CV Writing
If like me you had never written a CV then it can be a daunting task. During resettlement you will get lots of CV advice but obviously this comes long after you need to submit your CV to the OLRS team. I have made a very basic CV template to give you an idea of how to structure one. The good news is you don’t need to worry about changing the language into civilian speak as your talking to people who understand military language. Structure your CV to showcase your experience, qualifications and knowledge. There are lots of templates on the internet but having looked at the examples on the CTP website during my resettlement the basic ones are the best.
Like I said its very basic and based on an Infantry Soldier – Joe Blogs, some templates have the Key Skills before the career history, I have put it below. Within each role add into it any awards/qualifications and recognition you received rather than list them all separately. It should be around two pages long and tell the story of your expertise, skills and qualifications.
Once you are invited to submit the full application they will ask for your JPA competencies and annual reports so don’t worry about adding in all your qualifications just the main ones will give them an idea of experience.
At the bottom of the CV I have added the EOI format I used in the email I attached my CV to. I am no CV expert by any means so pls take it at face value and I’m sure lots of people will be more experienced than me, hopefully it will help.
